School administration of Dwamena Akenten Senior High School (SHS) in the Ashanti Region are in hot soup after it was alleged that a second-year General Arts student of the school died after he was allegedly denied an exeat to go home for medical treatment by the senior housemaster.

Reports from a reporter from Ultimate Fm, reported that, the deceased reportedly requested for the exeat to go home on Sunday, 9 February 2020 but he was refused.

Speaking to a student of the school, he confirmed that the deceased died in the dormitory during classes hours on Tuesday, 11 February 2020.

The corpse of the deceased has been sent to St. Patrick Hospital where autopsy will be done soon.

However, the senior housemaster has denied claims that he refused to grant the student the exeat, thus, his death. He said both he and the headmaster, as fathers, could not have been that cold to the boy’s situation.

Meanwhile, the authorities of the schools are engaged in a closed-door meeting with the family and the police so the body can be released to the parents who insist on taking the body for burial in accordance with Islamic custom.
