JOSÉ MOURINHO , MAXWELL ALLEGRI AND THE LEADING CONTENDERS TO BE NEXT BAYERN MUNICH MANAGER

Jose Mourinho, Max Allegri and the leading contenders to be next Bayern Munich manager
Niko Kovac's departure leaves a vacancy at one of the biggest clubs in world football

Jose Mourinho may have seen his stock take a hit in recent years after his largely disappointing spell at Manchester United and the disastrous end to his second stint at Chelsea, but the Portuguese remains one of the most lauded and successful coaches of the modern era.

He will bring with him plenty of pedigree and he has proved that when in charge of a top side, he can dominate. Bayern might be wary of his unsavoury antics and short shelf life, but he has the big personality to handle a club of their stature.

After 18 months in charge, Niko Kovac was sacked as Bayern Munich manager on Sunday after the club's 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend.

Kovac, who led Bayern to the domestic double of Bundesliga and German Cup last season, leaves with the club in fourth place and four points behind leaders Borussia Monchengladbach.

As one of the most prestigious and powerful clubs in world football, there will be no shortage of interest from managers looking to fill the vacancy.

In the photo gallery above, we take a look at five leading contenders who could be appointed the next Bayern manager.
