Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade, best known in Ghana and elsewhere for her hit song, ‘Johnny’ has been considered for a Grammy award in the next edition of the prestigious award ceremony.

Yemi is getting the nod for a number of reasons which falls within some of the criteria for selection. The songstress has amassed over over a million global streams.

Moreover, Yemi Alade is the proud recipient of a lot of awards including BET, MTV African Music Award and MOBO awards.

She was recently listed as one of the most influential people in Africa in 2018, as she is being introduced as ‘Mama Africa’.

Announcing the good news to her fans on social media, Yemi Alade wrote:

“We are up for Grammy Award consideration. Reaching out to all voting members @recordingacademy to consider my Album ‘Woman of Steel’ for Best World Music Album.
