CONFUSION AT ASAFO NEOPLAN STATION AS TRADERS STOP MP’s BUSES FROM WORKING (PHOTOS)

Traders at Asafo Neoplan Bus terminal in Kumasi have on Tuesday morning prevented a new bus company from operating at the terminal.

The said bus company 2M Express, owned by Daniel Okyem Aboagye, Member of Parliament Bantama was prevented from operating from the Asafo Neoplan station when a group of traders blocked parts of the road with stones.

They claimed that the area the company was trying to convert into a loading bay is a trading spot and they will not allow anyone to take that spot from them.

Speaking to the media, one of the protesters said,

“IF THE BANTAMA MP WANTS TO ESTABLISH A TRANSPORT BUSINESS, HE SHOULD RATHER CONSIDER DOING SO IN HIS CONSTITUENCY AND NOT HERE. WE WON’T FOLD OUR ARMS AND WATCH HIM RENDER US JOBLESS,”

Mr. Osei Asibey Antwi, Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly confirmed to the media that the MP’stransport company does not have the requisite authorization or permits to operate in the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
