TERROR THREAT : 11 PAKISTAN NATIONALS ARRESTED IN TECHIMAN, GHANA

The Bono East Regional Immigration Service has arrested 11 Pakistanis from their hideout at Kenten-Anyinabrem, a suburb of Techiman in the Bono East Regional Capital.

According to the Bono East Regional Immigration Commander, Chief Superintendent Annor Abrokwa, the people were arrested on Sunday, June 9, 2019 around 8: 30 pm upon a tip-off by a resident in the area.

In an interview with Adom News, Chief Supt. Abrokwa said the Pakistanis were arrested amidst recent news of possible terrorist attack in Ghana.

He said the men claimed their mission in Ghana is to preach the word of God to Ghanaians.

“These 11 people were being housed by one Amadu Seidu who told us the Pakistanis came to Ghana for evangelism during the Ramadan period and not involved in any illegal activity that could pose threats to the country, but we still want to investigate them.” he said.

Chief Supt. Abrokwa cautioned Ghanaians, especially landlords about who they rent their homes to.

“Landlords should inform the police before renting their rooms to foreigners for necessary investigations to be carried out on them, else they will be arrested alongside those foreigners when they are found to be involved in any shady job,” he admonished.
